In Matthew 25: 31 – 46 Jesus tells the parable of the sheep and the goats to his disciples. In the parable Jesus separates all the peoples of the world into two groups; the sheep and the goats. Jesus puts the sheep on his right and he tells them they are blessed because, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” The sheep then ask Jesus when did they do all of those things and Jesus replies, “Truly I tell you whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.” This text clearly calls us to serve others by helping us to understand that whenever we serve other people we are serving the Lord as well.
