We have large numbers of teenagers, college and career young men and women, and children who now attend our church. We simply don’t have adequate space for them to meet. Tom Powidzki, our youth pastor, makes the observation that we have one of the largest youth programs in the community and yet have some of the most limited space of any church facility. And Chuck Lewis commented that as the congregation becomes younger, the number of children and youth has grown. When families add children, homes often need to be expanded.
Our real desire is to reach unchurched youth, while actively discipling those who have come to faith in Christ. The unique spaces provided in the new youth center will be well used to establish relationships. And, we believe, it is out of relationships that Christ’s love is most effectively communicated.
We believe this facility will be used to minister to hundreds of youth and college age students for the next 20 years or more (our current sanctuary has been used for more than 25 years) and would also provide necessary office space for volunteers, ministry interns, and additional staff as we experience growth.
